However, in May of 2021 that rule was withdrawn by the new Administration. Now, club leaders find themselves more at risk than ever before when dealing with independent contractors. Indeed, a less sympathetic Department of Labor and the coming "ABC Test" will soon expose clubs to significant penalties under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Internal Revenue Code for misclassifying their workers.
